In his gospel, Mark presented Jesus as the ultimate servant, concentrating more on what Jesus did than on what He said. The action begins almost immediately with the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. 10:48. Some people tried to stop Bartimaeus from seeking Jesus. Could it have been Jesus’ determined stride that made them think he had no time for the blind beggar? “In comparison with the destiny of a nation, the fate of one blind beggar must have seemed unimportant” (Dowling, Mark, p. 100).
